Knowledge structures are arrangements of knowledge elements.

Knowledge elements, in turn, can be defined as parts of what we are thinking about or discussing.

The framework provides a distillation of the most useful and widespread structural archetypes.

They can be divided into three categories:

  • Space/time knowledge structures
  • Non-space/time knowledge structures
  • Meta knowledge structures

They all can be used to organize information, make sense of complex concepts, and communicate ideas more effectively.
